Trojan Tidbits

Trojan Tidbits will be weekly shout outs to those individuals in our school community who are doing amazing things!  It is my goal to communicate all the positives happening in HSSD.  If you have any special events happening in your classes or buildings or if you know of someone I need to give a shout out to, please complete the form at

Dr. Stephanie Nehus, Superintendent

This week's shout out goes to all of our Principals in the Hot Springs School District!  October is National Principal's Month in Arkansas as designated by Governor Hutchinson.  Thank you to all of our Principal's for your love and devotion to our students and our district!
Week 9 goes to Gabe Meggers for utilizing drone technology to create a video of the 5-12 district pep rally last week.  Thank you Gabe and Mr. John Stokes, EAST Facilitator!!!
Week 8's Trojan Tidbits Shout Out

This week's shout out goes to the Trojan Football team for a great win Friday night!  Thank you coaches and players for your hard work and dedication.  Go Trojans!
Thank you Chartwell's for providing a Chef 2 School moment at Gardner this week.  Our students loved meeting Chef Kat and Leo the Lion and sampling the tomato basil salad. We encourage all students to enjoy breakfast and lunch as they are both provided for free to all students in Hot Springs School District.  Look for upcoming highlight menu items.
Thank you to Bryce Walker, Director of Technology, and all of our technology staff: Ken Harding, Mike Griffith, and Greg Walker, for all of their hard work and long hours keeping our district technology up and running.  We all appreciate you!!!

So proud of the Hot Springs Junior Academy drum line led by Valerie Tobin for their performance at the United Way of the Ouachitas Kickoff event on Thursday morning.  These students have only been in school a little over 3 weeks and pulled off a great showcase. Way to go Trojans!
Week 3's shout out goes to Hot Springs World Class High School for hosting Governor Hutchinson while on his coding tour across the state.  I want to applaud our EAST students who were able to highlight their work: Eliot & Faheem, Miles, and Maddie & Ella. We are so proud of you and the projects you have embarked upon and I know the Governor was impressed!

Week 2's shout out goes to Mrs. Alison Carter-Toney who graciously moved from being a 1st grade teacher to a 3rd grade teacher when the need arose.  Thank you for being open and willing to change at the drop of a hat and taking one for the team!  You are appreciated!

The first week of school has started off well!  I want to thank all of the administrators for their work over the summer preparing for the upcoming year.  I, also, want to give a shout out to all of our teachers and staff who worked tirelessly in professional development and in their classrooms ensuring the students have all they need to be successful academically and in extra-curricular activities.  Finally, I want to thank all of our community volunteers who gave of their time this week to assist in our buildings.  It was a pleasure to see some recently retired faces back in the halls helping out!  I appreciate each and every one of you!!!  Have a wonderful weekend as we prepare for week 2.
